Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.A form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function. There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties.  It traces back more than 6000 years, since ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Persians, Romans and probably Chinese used to burn scented flowers and herbs and enjoy aromatic bath, massage and skin care for curative and cosmetic purposes.

Essential oil:
Essential oils are non-oily aromatic liquids occurring naturally in various parts of plants, herbs, flowers, fruits, woods and spices. They contain the life force of the plant and have the ability to strengthen our immune system and to stimulate our body’s natural healing abilities.
Essential Oils are highly concentrated and should not be used directly on the skin or near the eyes. Using oils neat on the skin can create a rash, itching, an allergic reaction, and even severe pain. They must always be diluted in a suitable carrier oil for massage, or diluted with water for baths and vaporization.Essentials oil should be kept away from children and pets and stored in dark colour glass bottles away from sunlight and heat.

paraffin manicure

As explain before, manicure is a procedure that is performed as a beauty treatment for the hands and fingernails.A paraffin manicure is a type of manicure that includes a paraffin wax treatment to replenish and soften the skin. This specialty manicure involves more steps than a standard one, which can make it last longer and feel more relaxing. A paraffin manicure can be enjoyed at home or at a luxurious salon or spa.For paraffin manicure we need to perform all of steps of basic manicure firstly and after a relaxing hand and arm massage we should prepare warm paraffin to dip the hand.It will help to soften and smooth the recipient's hands.Spas often enhance the soothing qualities of the paraffin manicure by adding calming essential oil to the wax for an aromatherapy aspect to the treatment.During a paraffin manicure, the warm paraffin wax can be applied a number of ways but before applying the paraffin use a moisturizer.
The most common application is by dipping the hands several times into a basin of melted paraffin wax until they are well coated.
Other methods include applying the wax by wrapping pre-proportioned thin sheets around the hands or by brushing it directly onto the skin.
A plastic bag or glove is placed over the wax, and a hot, wet towel can be wrapped around the outside to enhance the moisture and heat. Alternatively, thermal gloves can be used for the same purpose. The hands are left to soak in the wax for as long as 30 minutes. When removed, the cooled wax does not stick to the skin but peels off easily, sometimes in one large piece, leaving the hands moist and soft.
A paraffin manicure is known for hydrating dry skin, opening the pores, and increasing circulation to the hands. It helps retain the skin’s natural moisture and is especially beneficial in the winter months, when hands tend to get dry and cracked. A paraffin treatment also can have therapeutic properties such as relieving sore muscles and joints, providing better range of motion in the hands and easing the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, eczema, arthritis and other ailments.
Many people prefer at-home manicures, and adding a paraffin treatment can be easy and inexpensive. Many of the same moisturizing and smoothing benefits for that skin that are provided by a professional paraffin manicure can be obtained at home with a few basic supplies that are available at beauty supply stores or major discount retailers. A small basin, a block of paraffin wax and a pair of protective gloves are all that is needed to include this therapeutic treatment to a personal hand and nail regimen in the comfort of one's own home.

Basic Pedicure

Like the nails on your hand the nails on your feet too need to be taken care of. You can give yourself a pedicure at home. Given below are the steps to follow for a home pedicure.
1) Remove old nail polish completely. Using cotton balls leaves traces of cotton on your nails try using cotton bands instead. Soak the cotton band with acetone remover and remove the old polish. If the color is not coming off the press the cotton on to the nail and let it soak for a while.
2) It is always best to use high quality clippers to cut your toenails. Cut your nails straight across, leaving about 1/8" of length. Do not let your nail extend over the tip of your toe.
3) For a soft square shape, file the nail around the corners in one direction. Use emory boards and not metal files, as metal files rip nails. The smoother surface is for smoothing the nail edge while the coarser surface is for shortening and shaping nails.
4) Apply cuticle cream
5) Fill a big flat-bottom bowl or foot spa machine with warm water. Add Mineral salts, aromatherapy oils or pedicure shampoo and let your feet soak for to minutes. The more calloused your feet are the longer they need to stay soaked. Add about quarter cup of milk to the warm water. Lactic acid in the milk loosens dead skin.
6)Apply cuticle pusher and cutter to the base of each nail and rub in. Wait for a minute and then using an orange wood stick, slowly push the skin back where it meets the nail. 7)Use brush and shampoo in a circulate motion.
8) Use foot scrapper and loofah or a wet pumice stone and remove the dead on the balls and heels of your feet.
9)Use an ex-foliating body or foot scrub.
10)Use a massage cream for a relaxation one.
There are some tips of pedicure also that will explain more about them later.

Professional Manicure Tips

A manicure is a beauty treatment for the fingernails and hands. Manicures usually involve soaking the hands, applying hand lotion, filing and shaping the nails and applying nail polish. There are also special manicures that will explain later.
It is possible to give yourself a professional manicure or pedicure at home. You can even create your own professional manicure sets (including pedicure machines for those who want all the manicure and pedicure sets and tools). All you need is a few simple tools and knowledge of the procedure that professional manicurists use.

Pedicure is the same sort of treatment for the feet. Again, it involves soaking the feet, filing and shaping the nails and applying lotion and nail polish.

The Procedure (for doing your own manicures and pedicures)

Below are the procedure that would be followed by a professional manicurist. By following the same procedure, you can also give yourself a professional-looking manicure. Before you start, though, you will need to collect some tools and put together one of your own professional manicure sets.

PROFESSIONAL MANICURE SETS

Here are all the tools you will need to give yourself a manicure or pedicure. Some items on the list are essential, but some items can be left until later. You can also buy professional manicure sets or individual manicure and pedicure sets.

The Basics
  1. Bowl of warm water (this will have to be a very large bowl for a pedicure).
  2. Nail polish remover.
  3. Cuticle pusher (preferably orangewood)
  4. A hand towel.
  5. Nail clippers or scissors.
  6. Clear nail polish.

HOW TO DO A BASIC MANICURE

If you have ever wondered how to do a manicure, the following list should be helpful. It is a list of steps that professional manicurists take when giving people manicures. By following the same steps (and using your own professional manicure sets) you too can give yourself a professional manicure.
  1. Remove any old nail polish with nail polish remover.
  2. Trim the fingernails and shape them with a nail file. Metal nail files or emery boards can be used, but professionals usually use fine glass files. To file properly, start with the file at the outer edge of the nail and move towards the center. You should not file nails with a saw-like motion.
  3. Apply a cuticular cream or oil
  4. Soak the hands in Luke warm water that added shampoo,Mineral salt, Antiseptic lotion and H2O2 before, for 10 Min.
  5. The cuticles are pushed back with a cuticle pusher. Metal cuticle pushers can be used, but they may damage the fingernail. It is best to use orangewood cuticle pushers.
  6. use a brush with shampoo and apply in circulate motions.
  7. use scrub cream.
  8. Finish the manicure with a hand massage. You can use hand lotion or oils. Some manicurists will soak the hands in paraffin or wax before putting on hand lotion.(explain them later)
  9. Polish the fingernails with a polishing board (or nail buffer). A polishing board has a soft foam layer with a polishing surface.
  10. Apply nail polish. Most professionals apply at least one layer of clear nail polish. If you want to apply colored nail polish, use at least three layers. Start with a base coat. Then put on the color coat. Finish with a top coat. Clear nail polish can be used in place of a base coat and top coat.

Hair Texture

Hair texture is the measure of the circumference of the hair strand itself. Professionals classify the texture of hair as being "coarse", "fine", or "medium".

Fine hair texture

Fine hair texture is very, very small in diameter, and tends to be weightless and flyaway. Frequently, it’s quite straight and won’t hold a curl easily. Fine hair generally takes chemical processes easily, but care must be taken in using perms, relaxers and other treatments. Due to the fine texture, this hair type is easily over-processed. Careful timing is essential to avoid over-processed, damaged hair.

Medium texture
If your hair is not flyaway, or thick and coarse, it is a medium hair texture. This is sometimes referred to as “normal” texture. If this describes your hair, you should consider yourself lucky, as your hair texture is the most common and most manageable. This hair texture type is also the easiest to process. Medium hair texture tends to take perms and relaxers equally well.

Coarse hair
Coarse hair texture has a thick diameter, and often feels rough. Coarse hair is the strongest hair texture. This strength is a good thing, unless you are trying to use a chemical process, such as a perm or relaxer. Strong, coarse hair texture is also the most difficult to process. If you have coarse hair texture, you may find that it doesn't always take a perm well, or more frequent perming is necessary.

Hair texture varies from individual to individual, and can be different in separate areas of the same head. You may have coarse hair on the top of the head and fine hair at the nape of the neck. Race and ethnicity are irrelevant in determining hair texture, as coarse, medium and fine hair can be found among all racial and ethnic groups.

I found this very useful you can go there and enjoy:

Dry skin makeup guide

Makeup can worsen dry skin conditions therefore dry skin should be prepared for makeup before applying it. It is essential to understand and follow the right methodology to apply makeup for dry skin.

Exfoliate: Exfoliating the skin will remove the dead cells. Therefore exfoliate face, neck and lips before applying makeup.

Moisturize: Moisturize your face after cleansing. Use a rich moisturizer that is non-greasy as oily formulations can clog the pores of the skin.

Primer: Apply a speck of makeup primer specially formulated for dry skin. Start applying from the center of your face outward.

Foundation: Use a liquid foundation, apply small dots and blend it into your skin using a makeup sponge. A base with very fine light-reflective particles will give a natural-look and dewy finish. Foundations with a reasonable degree of oil will retain moisture in the skin.

Concealer: Concealers that are liquid or creamy suit dry skin. Concealers can be used to hide birthmarks, dark spots, pimples and scars. Do not apply concealer under the eyes as it might highlight the dark circles. For dry skin makeup, choose a concealer that is a shade lighter than the foundation you use.

Eye makeup: Select creamy eye shadows and eyeliner. Use mascara and brow cosmetics of your choice.

Blush: Use a creamy blush as gels, powder and cheek stains do not suit dry skin type.

Lip makeup: Use a balm or salve. Over this, apply lip gloss or moisturizing lipstick.

Makeup application tips for dry skin

  • Always use cosmetics designed specifically for dry skin.
  • Before applying makeup, apply moisturizer and wait for a few minutes. This will soften the dry skin and bring out the best of your makeup.
  • During summer you can use a tinted moisturizer in place of a regular foundation as it is very light when compared to foundations.
  • Exfoliating the skin at least once a week helps the skin to absorb the moisturizer better.
  • Use an eye cream as the skin around the eyes is very delicate and eye creams are absorbed better when compared to moisturizers.
  • Use a foundation brush to apply foundation; this will help you use very little foundation thus avoiding a caked appearance. Apply foundation in downward strokes.
  • Apply the cream blusher high on the cheek and blend well. Choose pink blush if you have a blue or pink undertone to the skin, peach color if you have a golden undertone to the skin.
  • Use peach or neutral pink eye shadow all over the eyelid.

Choose the right makeup

  • Choose products that can cover the blemishes of dry skin.
  • Make sure that the creams and cosmetics have a water-based combination.
  • Creams and cosmetics made from water-based fruits such as watermelon are best suited for dry skin makeup.

Makeup products for dry skin

For dry skin choose oil-based or water based products. Avoid makeup products that are oil-free, avoid matte products too. Do not use powders, as they will dry the skin further.

Foundation: Use moisture rich, oil-based, hydrating, light reflecting or silicone-based liquid formulas. You can try cream or mousse foundations and tinted moisturizer too. Each of these products offers a special degree of coverage and finish.

Concealer: Use cream or liquid based forms.

Eye makeup: Use cream and silk-textured powder. Use soft, creamy pencils and cream eyeliner.

Face Powder: Dry skin people need not use powder as it will make the skin further dry.
